Up to now, the effect of strain rate on adhesive bond shearing resistance stiff clay, which plays a fundamental role in constitutive modeling such kind soils, remains unclear. This paper aims experimentally investigate dependency clay. Both undisturbed and reconstituted overconsolidated samples Merville clay from Flanders region north France are prepared with different overconsolidation ratios (OCR, up 56). Oedometer tests undrained triaxial under confining stresses OCRs conducted. The inter-particle is gradually investigated by comparing test results same OCR. All suggest uniqueness one-dimensional conditions for whereas shear strength found be higher than due bonding. new finding formulated as against rate, should useful improving time-dependent highly clays.
